Ministry of Digital Affairs: Charging Station Information Available on Government Open Data Platform, Boosting Green Transportation Development

To support the government's digital development and energy-saving policies and promote green transportation, the Ministry of Digital Affairs (the MODA) announced that the Government Open Data platform recently updated several datasets from the Ministry of Transportation and Communication in August. These include Basic Information of Charging Stations, Real-time Status of Charging Cable, and Charging Station Data for Highway Service Areas. The initiative allows the public to check the availability of charging stations in real time, improving charging convenience and encouraging the development of electric vehicle charging applications.

The MODA noted that considering the immediate charging needs of electric vehicle users, the newly released datasets are available through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). The information includes the "geographical locations of charging stations," "the number of charging guns," and "the usage status of charging piles." The datasets facilitate third-party value-added applications, such as ChargeSmith and AmpGo, allowing the public to access the latest information on charging stations nationwide, significantly improving the charging convenience for electric vehicle users.

The MODA emphasized that the transparency of charging rates through open datasets helps the public quickly compare rate differences at various locations and choose the most suitable charging stations. This increases the transparency of charging infrastructure operations and promotes the deep integration of charging station information with digital platforms, accelerating the development and adoption of green transportation.

In the future, leveraging artificial intelligence and big data analysis techniques will allow for in-depth analysis of charging cables' real-time status and usage data. This will help charging station operators establish smart charging management systems and optimize facility operation management and charging station deployment, effectively meeting users' demands. At the same time, the data will help the government predict peak electricity usage, optimize the allocation of charging infrastructure, and adjust power resource distribution, improving overall power dispatch efficiency and contributing to promoting low-carbon policies and developing green transportation.

The MODA emphasized that the disclosure and application of charging station datasets are concrete practices for the government's digital and sustainable transformation promotion. This initiative combines innovative developments in the high-value application fields of transportation and energy management. This improves the convenience of people's daily lives and allows the government and the private sector to work together to create a low-carbon lifestyle.
