The Second NGO/NPO Selected Teams Span Social Welfare, Nature Conservation, and Social Innovation Organizations
The Ministry of Digital Affairs ( MODA) continues to promote the Data Empowerment for Social Innovation data application mentorship program to help Taiwan’s NGOs/NPOs develop essential data skills for the AI era. The Ministry held the first meeting and workshop for selected teams on the 25th of September. This year’s chosen teams serve various social welfare domains, including children with disabilities, vulnerable families, disadvantaged elderly, rural education, spinal cord injuries, and mental health support. It is the first time social innovation organizations have joined the mentorship program. More than 10 data coaches mentored the teams from ideation to action, fostering a collaborative learning environment within the public welfare sector. The teams engaged in discussions and worked together to develop customized mentorship plans, with continued support over the upcoming five months.
The Ministry stated that with the rise of big data and AI, data application has become a critical tool for making accurate decisions across various fields. For NGOs/NPOs working on the frontline, learning to transform data into workable strategies is crucial to organizational development. MODA continues to promote Data Empowerment for The Social Innovation program provides technical support and helps teams analyze data to develop innovative, impactful action plans while maintaining their social missions.
MODA noted that this year’s data application mentorship recruitment had introduced additional consultation themes such as Fundraising/ Donations, Activity/ Advocacy Conversion Rate, and Data Process Mapping, attracting many organizations to participate. This indicates that NGOs/NPOs are ready to embrace the evolving data landscape. In the future, the MODA and data coaches will continue to help NGOs/NPOs apply data-driven design methods, taking the first step towards implementing data-driven action plans. Through the 5-month mentorship period, data couches will support the chosen teams in clarifying challenges and learning new skills and concepts to enhance organizational efficiency using data.
MODA will continue to help the public harness the power of data. In addition to promoting data application mentorship for NGOs/NPOs, the MODA will organize a series of data empowerment courses, including practical classes on Low-code AI and No-code AI, enabling civil society organizations across sectors to leverage data to improve service effectiveness and increase social impact. The MODA aims to enhance public welfare and advance social missions by fostering public-private partnerships. NGOs/NPOs are encouraged to register and participate actively.
